GENOMIC LABORATORY

Gunasheela in-house Genetics Laboratory offers Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) based on highly sophisticated and cutting edge technology of the Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS) platform, with the fastest turnaround time for the results.
It also offers the Cytogenetic screening and molecular diagonostic services. The Cytogenetic lab is where Karyotyping, Thalassemia screening, Y chromosome microdeletions and a host of other screening procedures are performed.
The First Baby in India, which was conceived through PGS Technology on a Single Frozen-Thawed Embryo (in a 24 hour run) at Gunasheela Hospital, was born on 14th September 2016.
Till date Gunasheela has had 26 pregnancies in all with 7 healthy babies being born.

WORLD CLASS TECHNOLOGY

INVITRO MATURATION (IVM)

Gunasheela IVF Centre has been working with international experts in the field of IVM to improve the success rates of IVM. IVM involves the aspiration of immature oocytes from minimally stimulated ovaries and maturing them in the laboratory. Our IVM in- house developed protocol helps to produce in vivo minimally mature oocytes and provides more competent oocytes to develop into blastocyst and subsequent implantation.
Gunasheela boasts of having had the 1st IVM baby in India in the year 2003.
Gunasheela IVF Centre has reported 5th Baby in the world by Vitrification of IVM oocytes in the world in the year of 2011.

TLIE

TIME LAPSE IMAGING – EMBRYOSCOPE

EmbryScope Time-lapse imaging system is advanced automated tri-gas incubator come microscope, it will help to embryologists to identify best quality embryos for transfer based on automated morphokinetics analysis. Quantitative measurements of the timing of embryo development, i.e., morpho kinetic parameters, may be used to identify best quality embryos which are having the implantation potential. These recent findings suggest that morpho-kinetic parameters may supplement to current embryo selection methods to possibly increase clinical pregnancy rates for IVF treatments. Manual assessment of embryo development may be golden standard. However, it is subjective and may not always able to predict best viable embryos for transfer.

PRE-IMPLANTATION GENETIC SCREENING

Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS) is a comprehensive chromosome screening that examines embryos for chromosomal abnormalities.pigs-2Gunasheela Genomics laboratory has an in-house Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology for PGS and PGD. NGS allows us to study chromosomes at a level never before possible to provide comprehensive, accurate screening of all 23 pairs of chromosomes of the embryos. 1st pregnancy in India with in-house

1st pregnancy in India with in-house NGS-based PGS tested on frozen thawed embryos was reported in 2016 at Gunasheela IVF Centre.
PGS testing can have multiple benefits for individuals:
  • PGS helps to identify aneuploidies (either excess or different number of chromosomes) in the blastocyst to be transferred into the womb
  • Transferring normal embryos determined by PGS, helps to increase the likelihood of achieving a successful pregnancy with IVF
  • In-house PGS facility allows a very short turnaround time for analysis, reporting and transfer of viable euploid embryos to womb
  • FERTILITY PRESERVATION

  • Gunasheela IVF centre provides Fertility Preservation for Social freezing and Cancer patients. Gunasheela group has started Fertility Preservation trust for the Cancer patients. It was established in the year of 2010. The main aim of this trust is to help young cancer patients to preserve their fertility and after survival, they can have offspring by Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART).

  • Cancer patients can store their sperm, testicular tissue, ovarian tissue, oocytes, and embryos before undergoing cancer treatment at GIRC&F for free of charge. Presently, GIRC&F has been providing free of charge to freeze samples for 10 years.
  • CLEAN ROOM TECHNOLOGY

crGIVF Centre believes that “Cleanliness is the language of efficiency and the landmark of total Dedication”. No efforts are spared to ensure that the working conditions are clean. Controlled clean air is circulated throughout the vast area of the laboratory and all practices conform to and ensure the clean room code. The Clean Room System has been designed and engineered to American FDA Standard Class 10 K, which is in fact 10 times more stringent than the European Class ‘A’ Standard. The FDA Class 10 K is generally used in all drug manufacturing industries for both injections and liquid formulations.
The Clean Room Presentation with a special high-powered generator has been installed to service this unit. This facility provides clean room atmosphere by pushing filtered air through compressors and ultra-filters into the sensitive area where gametes and embryos are handled. The changes occur 60 times per hour and allowing less than 10,000 0.5μ particles per cubic foot of laboratory space and zero particulate count in the laminar flow bench.
Our Clean Room was the first of its kind in South India. With the establishment of this new laboratory, there was no looking back from there on. The overall pregnancy rate increased tremendously and it has only increased further with the addition of newer technologies in the laboratory.

    AIR SHOWER AT EMBRYOLOGY LAB

Dedicated Semen processing area for IVF/ICSI procedures and slow freezing facility for ovarian tissue freezing
One of the international auditors recently visited our IVF centre and audited our embryology laboratory. The auditor has reported that Gunasheela IVF Centre is one the most advanced in India with technologies such as EmrbyoScope and In-vitro Maturation (IVM). We follow Standard Operating Protocols (SOPs) for each embryology procedure.

    TRI-GAS BENCH TOP INCUBATOR

Incubators are the heart for any embryology laboratory they play a pivotal role in providing a stable culture environment (like womb) to develop fertilized oocyte into viable embryos for transfer. Presently, we have five tri-gas benchtop incubators that going to take cares our present and future load. Our stable culture environment has been helping us to culture the embryos to the blastocyst stage (Day 5 or Day 6) for the better clinical outcome. We regularly use our tri-gas incubators for oocyte maturation in IVM cycles and embryo culture still blastocyst stage.

    MICRO MANIPULATOR

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an effect treatment option for male infertility patients. ICSI technology was first introduced in 1992 to the world since then millions of babies were born worldwide. Presently, we have four independent ICSI systems to take care our patient load without any time delay for sperm injection.

    LASER SYSTEM

Presently, we have one movable laser system; it can be used for a wide verity of applications in the embryology laboratory such as 1. Assisted Hatching 2. Blastomere biopsy 3. Artificial Collapse of Blastocysts before Vitrification 4. Trophectoderm biopsy for PGS and PGD. One ICSI system is connected with a movable laser system for biopsy applications.

    LAMINAR AIR FLOW

Laminar Air Flow (LAF) workstations: We have two 6 ft and one 3 ft start-of-the-art LAF systems to independently work 5 embryologist at any point of time. LAF are temperature controlled and HEFA filtered pure air circulation system to avoid the any type contamination and provide viable environment for gametes.

    CRYOSTORAGE FACILITY

Gunasheela boasts of a robust vitrification system for embryos and oocytes and slow freezing Planar Freezer for ovarian tissue in young patients afflicted with cancer.
We have dedicated cryostorage containers for semen and oocyte/embryos with safe identification marking. Cryostorage facility is adjacent to Andrology and Embryology laboratory for easy and immediate access.
We have an annual maintenance contract with instrument suppliers to maintain safety and quality of the instruments. We strongly believe and follow quality management measurements and also our IVF facility had been regularly audited by international experts in the field of reproductive medicine/health.
